SeaTrial: Maritimo 550 Offshore Convertible
Reprinted from March 2010 Sea Magazine
WE LEFT THE DOCK IN A 10- TO 15-KNOT side wind, but our captain, Chris Elliott of Compass Point Yachts, used the remote thruster control and the aft controls to move the boat effortlessly into the channel. Later, when I turned the boat stern-to at 8 knots into a choppy sea with a good groundswell (I noticed no chattering, shimmering or cavitation), we took on 6 inches of green water in the cockpit. I stopped the boat and the water was gone in about three seconds — I timed it. I wasn’t surprised by either of those events, however, because the Maritimo 550 Offshore Convertible has Bill Barry-Cotter’s 40 years of shipbuilding experience behind it.
C60 Sports Cabriolet, taking luxury boating to new level
When Bill Barry-Cotter’s Maritimo yard launched its European-styled C60 Sports Cabriolet, it took luxury boating to another level, reports Barry Trantor.
The popularity of boats like the Maritimo C60 tells us something about the Australian character. It also tells us about how the Australian character has changed its attitude about how it wants to go boating.
The theme of this craft, its essential character, is that it offers a massive one-level entertainment area, which embraces cockpit and saloon, the latter providing a bar, galley, lounge and driving station. Everything you want is here, in one large area. Thus, you have an indoor/outdoor ambiance; you are of the open air, but not necessarily in it.
The Pocket Battleship Of Sports Fishers

Article by Ian Macrae
The new Maritimo 550 was unveiled at the Sydney Boat Show and is a real battleship, designed to hunt the grandeurs. She is based on the Maritimo 52 hull, and incorporates much of the technology the Maritimo team has gained from their offshore racing experience.

BOAT TEST: 2008 Maritimo Yachts C60 Sports Cabriolet
By Capt. Bill Pike
The only other time I can remember getting myself into something that sounded this stark-raving mad was a dozen years ago. I’d just finished wringing out a high-performance screamer, and the photographer who was prepping for a follow-up helicopter shoot suggested I come along, not only “just for the livin’ hell of it,” but also to experience (after the shoot was “in the can,” as they say) a phenomenon the photog called “herding sea gulls.” I went along, of course, and after herding a few gulls—and enduring every conceivable aerial orientation except zipping along upside down—queasily conceded the exercise was roughly equivalent to dodging and feinting around a hot LZ in a UH-1 Huey in Vietnam back in 1969. Way too exciting.

Industry legend Bill Barry-Cotter and his award-winning marque Maritimo have both been renowned for flying bridge designs, with one industry observer noting that Barry-Cotter had ‘written the book on flying bridge concepts.’
However, this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will see the company undertake a radical move as it displays the first of a planned three-model range of European-styled cabriolet sport boats.

Higher Expectations – Maritimo 56 Cruising Motoryacht
By: Pierce Hoover

One could legitimately say that Maritimo’s Cruising Motoryachts defy comparison — at least in relationship to various enclosed-bridge sport-fishing yachts of similar size and shape. While war wagons from builders such as Bertram, Viking and Hatteras consider fishing prowess paramount, the Maritimo fleet places a far greater emphasis on comfort, versatility and efficient operation. With their slippery hulls, their secure, crewfriendly side decks, their raised, sheltered cockpits and airy interiors, these vessels are equally suited for entertaining aboard, long-range cruising, swim parties at anchor and, yes, even a bit of fishing.
